STRIVE FOR PROGRESS NOT FOR PERFECTION

by Ravipal Atwal

Everyone likes to live in a PERFECT world with no flaws, which doesn’t EXIST and will never exist.

NOTHING can be perfect, and we should stop CHASING perfection. Whatever we do there are always POSSIBILITIES to do it better than before, we will never reach the point where it is perfect. That is why we need to strive for continuous PROGRESS than Perfection.

1. INACCESSIBLE:

You can make IMPROVEMENTS from one POINT to another but if you are doing something to achieve perfection you will never finish it. Because whatever you do there is always a space to make it better. In the form of PERFECTION, you are trying to achieve which is not even important and in search of that you are missing what is actually important.

2. DELAY:

If you keep on MAKING same thing perfect you will NEVER move on to next one. You will SPEND more time on one thing and all the PROCESSES after that will be delayed as well. Nothing will FINISH on time and nothing will START on time.

3. SATISFACTION:

You will never be satisfied with your OUTPUT which will make you IRRITATED and you will not be satisfied MENTALLY as well PHYSICALLY. You need to be HEALTHY to be able to work PROPERLY and not reaching to any SATISFACTORY point in your life will leave you in DISAPPOINTMENT.

4. LOSS OF OPPORTUNITY:

We have COMPETITION in every field today and if you can’t DELIVER on time someone better then you will TAKE your place. Perfection is good, but if you can’t bring MORE on table with it, it is useless. You will MISS the new OPPORTUNITIES just because you are FOCUSED on PERFECTION and NOT on PROGRESSING as required.

5. SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING

If you can’t DELIVER your product COMPLETELY but you have at LEAST some part of it ready to show to your customer, they will be MORE than HAPPY to see that than NOTHING at all. Stop WORRYING to much of FAILURE, because that will just SCARE you.

6. DEMOTIVATION:

Perfection can DEMOTIVATE you over time because in your BRAIN you are thinking you have SPENT so much TIME in making something PERFECT and another person didn’t even REALIZE it. It can definitely demotivate you.

7. BORING AND TIRING:

REPEATING the same work can take away all the FUN part out of your WORK you will feel more TIRED than ever. It won’t be good for you and your work because it is very hard to CONCENTRATE in those situations. If you need to force yourself to do something than that work will not go WELL for long time.

8. PRESSURE AND NO FUN:

ACHIEVING perfection can bring more PRESSURE and you will see yourself going DOWN the hill over time. Its hard to work UNDER pressure and you will not ACHIEVE the OUTPUT that you want if you are working without LIKING it.

9. NOT WORTH IT:

Sometimes it is not even REQUIRED for somethings to be perfect. You need to CALCULATE the worth of it and STOP wasting your time and effort. You should SPEND your time where it is required. We need to UNDERSTAND our worth and time’s WORTH. Time is so IMPORTANT to be used PROPERLY because once it is gone you can not do anything about it. So, make it Worth.

Working with joy and determination can return you more than Striving for Perfection.
